Authorities say a family disturbance at a hotel led to the arrest

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Gulf Shores police officers responded to a disturbance at a hotel on Gulf Shores Parkway in the early morning hours of July 3, 2026. What officers found prompted a criminal investigation involving a family group staying at the hotel. A 37-year-old man from Millbrook, Alabama, was arrested and now faces three felony charges. The Gulf Shores Police Department says the case remains active.
Officers arrived at the hotel in the 1700 block of Gulf Shores Parkway at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026. At the scene, they spoke with an adult male, two adult females, and a juvenile. The group told officers they had traveled to Gulf Shores to attend a concert and were staying at the hotel as guests.
During that conversation, one of the adult females told officers that earlier in the evening — before police were called — she had to resist forcible sexual advances by a member of her own family. Detectives from the Gulf Shores Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division were then called in to assist with the case.
As a result of the investigation, Todd Sterlin Trolinger Jr., 37, of Millbrook, Alabama, was arrested and charged with three counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. He is currently being held at the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.
The Gulf Shores Police Department has partnered with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) to broaden the scope of the investigation. Authorities have not disclosed which additional avenues are being explored, but they confirmed the case remains ongoing.
