James Spann is the most famous meteorologist in Alabama for both television and online updates. Now he provides localized forecast and warnings for every town in the State. The Alabama Weather Network launched this week and their new app is available on Google and Apple stores for download.

The service opened with a clever logo displaying Spann's famous suspenders and tie, an outfit he has worn for the decades of weather broadcasting.

The 24/7 weather network will span the state, offering unprecedented coverage in all 67 counties.

"If you live in the state of Alabama, we've got your back," Spann said during the launch.

The team of experienced meteorologists and over 1,000 storm spotters statewide will offer live cameras, storm chaser live streams, and shared videos and photos.

Spann introduced his new team and showed off sky cams from across the state during the launch.

Spann said the Alabama Weather Network is committed to providing live coverage anytime there is a tornado warning for any county. He also will provide full modeling and updates for hurricanes or tropical storms that could impact Alabama's coast.

The platform will partner with the National Weather Service offices across the state to provide weather reports, data and warning information.
