Jennifer Guthrie for Gulf Shores City Council Place 2

Gulf Shores Political News

A new voice has entered the election for Gulf Shores City Council. Jennifer Guthrie has officially entered the race for council place 2, currently occupied by Gary Sinak.

Guthrie is originally from Austin, Texas, but has made Gulf Shores her home for the past 13 years. She is a mom of three, a small business owner, and has served as a planning commissioner since 2018.

Jennifer Guthrie has been a long-time team leader of yoga instructors at Glow Yoga in Gulf Shores. She was once selected for Mobile Bay Magazine's "40 under 40" list. In the article she included the following bio:

Alma Mater Elon University
Hometown Austin, Texas
Spouse + Children Drew; Lil (9), Lloyd (4), Gracie (2)
What did you want to be when you grew up? A lawyer or a secret service agent
Guilty Pleasure Driving around in my “mom mobile” with the windows down while blasting all genres of ’90s music and singing at the top of my lungs
Hidden Talent I was a Division I college tennis player, and I don’t play much anymore, so it’s really a hidden talent.
Favorite thing about your job People share with me all the time how grateful they are to have Glow Yoga and how much it has changed their lives. I’m thankful for that because it helps me remember what life is really all about … being there for others.

Guthrie has invited residents to learn more about herself and future plans at her website, guthrieforgulfshores.com

Election day for the City Council will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
