Orange Beach Announces Golf Cart Inspections

Inspections/Re-inspections run October through January

The Orange Beach Police Department has scheduled dates from October through January for golf cart re-inspections and permit registrations. Support Services Technicians and officers will visit neighborhoods listed below on the specified dates to conduct the inspections.


Golf cart owners must meet all requirements to pass inspection/re-inspection. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and required equipment are necessary. If any of these are missing, the cart will fail the re-inspection, and the permit will not be renewed. If the cart passes, a $100 fee will be collected on-site. Payment can be made with cash, check, or credit card. 


The permit will be valid for four years, and owners will receive two renewal decals for 2025-28, which will be placed over the current permit stickers.


Required golf cart equipment and information to be re-inspected by officers include:
 

  • Driver’s License
  • Liability insurance
  • Headlights (No higher than 36”)
  • Rear View Mirror 
  • Brake Lights 
  • Operable Brakes
  • Turn Signals (Front and Rear)         
  • Windshield


Re-Inspection Dates and Locations:
 

  • Saturday, October 12, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Orange Beach City Hall, front parking lot, 4099 Orange Beach Blvd., serving West Oak Ridge Drive, and anyone with access to the location. 
  • Saturday, October 19, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Bear Point Civic Association Center, 5681 Bay La Launch Ave. 
  • Saturday, November 2, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Orange Beach Recreation Center parking lot, 4849 Wilson Blvd., serving East Orange Beach property owners and anyone with access to the location. 
  • Saturday, November 9, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Terry Cove pool parking lot, 26241 Terry Cove Drive, serving Terry Cove area property owners, including Marina Road and surrounding area.
  • Saturday, November 16, 2024: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Cypress Village at Cypress Village Townhomes pool parking lot, 23833 Cypress Manor. 
  • Saturday, December 7, 2024: 10 a.m. to noon - Windward Lakes’ clubhouse parking lot on Loop Road for property owners in Windward Lakes, Mariner Lakes and Leeward Village.
  • Saturday, December 7, 2024: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. - Lauder Place pool parking lot on the corner of Lauder Lane and Sailfish Lane, serving area property owners. 
  • Saturday, December 14, 2024: 10 a.m. to noon – Orange Beach Golf Center parking lot, 4700 Easy St., serving Captain’s Cove, Gulf Bay Road area, Easy Street, and anyone with access to the location. 
  • Saturday, December 14, 2024: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. - Revisit Orange Beach City Hall, front parking lot, 4099 Orange Beach Blvd.
  • Saturday, January 11, 2025: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Revisit Bear Point Civic Association Center, 5681 Bay La Launch Ave.


*All dates are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.

It’s Saturday morning, the second day of the 6A Section 1 Track Meet at Saraland High School. Coach Brewer has piloted the Dolphins bus to this place several times this season, but today a thick, milky fog has engulfed the panorama, limiting the vision of what’s ahead, save for head coach Jason Hill. He’s studied today’s upcoming events and is hopeful for the upset.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.
