Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) — Tonight, the Orange Beach City Council will convene for a joint regular and work session to address several key municipal initiatives, highlighted by the potential adoption of the city’s new Comprehensive Plan and approval of a renovation contract for Orange Beach Medical Center South.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at 5 p.m. inside the Council Chambers at Orange Beach City Hall.

In addition to voting on the comprehensive development plan, council members will consider extending temporary development moratoriums and hold a final vote on regulatory rules for bicycles, electric motorcycles, and other micromobility devices.

Key Action Items Up for Vote

The regular meeting agenda features several high-priority decisions, including:

• Infrastructure & Safety Regulations: Voting on amendments to Chapter 70 of the city code regarding safety guidelines and rules for micromobility, bicycles, and electric motorcycles.
• Long-Term Planning: The formal adoption of the City of Orange Beach Comprehensive Plan to guide future growth and environmental stewardship.
• Facility Upgrades: Awarding the construction bid for renovations at Orange Beach Medical Center South.
• Technology & Security Purchases:
• Approving a $52,950 bid to Earl Dudley, LLC, for an Aerial LiDAR Drone System to assist the Community Development department.
• Authorizing a $47,409.67 purchase of a new video surveillance system for the Fire Training Center from Vision Security Technologies Inc.

• Partnering with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to assist with sea turtle stranding, salvage, and rehabilitation.
• Securing operational contracts with PSTrax for Fire Department supply management and CourtReserve for Parks and Recreation tennis court operations.
• Approving a $6,860 geotechnical testing contract with GeoCon Engineering for local athletic facilities.
• Hiring DSH Event Consulting LLC to oversee the 2027 Orange Beach Festival of Art.
• Leadership & Civic Recognitions: Reappointing Sted McCollough to the Fire Code Board of Appeals and proclaiming September 17–23, 2026, as Constitution Week.
• Development Moratoriums: Holding a public hearing and first reading on a proposal to temporarily pause specific development projects.

Following the voting items, the council will transition to a work session to review upcoming proposals:

• Wharf Upgrades & Traffic Improvements: Discussing potential updates to the sales agreement for the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf, as well as plans for a new permanent traffic signal at the intersection of Canal Road, Wharf Parkway East, and Money Bayou Drive.
• Police Department Equipment: Reviewing a $60,011.50 vehicle purchase from Donohoo Chevrolet, LLC, and a $26,123.07 proposal from Vision Security Technologies Inc. for jail surveillance upgrades.
• Parks and Recreation: Evaluating shoreline stabilization designs for Waterfront Park.
• Professional Services: Reviewing legal service terms with attorney Renee Smith, as well as theater production contracts with Gerald Mills and TIDALHUE Creative, LLC, for the 2027 Spring Theater Production.
