Annual Fire Department Banquet Celebrates Local Heroes

Gulf Shores Area News

The City of Orange Beach Fire Department was honored at the Annual 2024 Fire Department

Banquet, an event held at The Port’s event venue. This occasion brought together firefighters,

their families, and local dignitaries to recognize the dedication and sacrifices of those who serve

and protect the community.

As part of the evening's celebration, local businesses Zeke's Restaurant and The Port generously

provided the venue and catering services, ensuring the event was a memorable one for all who

attended. This support was part of their ongoing efforts to give back to the community and

express gratitude for the tireless work of the fire department.

The banquet was an opportunity for the community to come together and thank the men and

women of the Orange Beach Fire Department for their bravery and service. Guests were treated

to a delicious meal, with a variety of local favorites, reflecting the community spirit of the event.

“We are grateful for the chance to honor the fire department,” said Omer Ramot from Zeke’s

Restaurant and The Port. “Our team was happy to offer our services, but it’s truly the firefighters

who deserve all the recognition. Their commitment to keeping Orange Beach safe is what makes

this event so special and we’re pleased to be a part of it.”

The fire department’s continues efforts to safeguard the citizens of Orange Beach are at the heart

of the event, with the banquet serving as a heartfelt thank you to the men and women who put

their lives on the line every day. The evening was a reminder of the importance of community

and the heroes who serve within it.

The annual nesting season for many of thee sea turtles has been happening long before some of the people ever frolicked amongst the waves. Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
