Orange Beach Girls Softball Earns Area Title Heading To Playoffs

The Makos Have Been Dominant In Regular Season Play

The Orange Beach Makos softball team secured their fifth straight Class 4A Area 1 title with a dominant 10-0 victory over Satsuma High School on Monday, April 28th. This win continues their impressive streak of area championships since the program's inception.

The Makos, ranked No. 1 in Alabama and No. 3 nationally by MaxPreps, boast a 39-2 overall record and a perfect 4-0 in area play this season. Their consistent performance has solidified their status as a powerhouse in high school softball.

Key players contributing to the team's success include senior pitcher Kaylee Grace Favors, who holds a 0.82 ERA, and junior slugger Ava Hodo, leading with 14 home runs. Senior Daigle Wilson has also been instrumental, recording 33 stolen bases this season.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Shane Alexander, the Makos have built a formidable program, capturing state championships in each of their first four varsity seasons. Their continued dominance in area play sets the stage for another deep postseason run.

With the area title secured, Orange Beach advances to the regional tournament, aiming to defend their state championship and further cement their legacy in Alabama high school softball. The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Softball Regionals take place May 5th through the 8th at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.
