New equipment will help train local fire department

Orange Beach Fire & Rescue

Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) — Orange Beach Fire & Rescue has taken a major step to protect the men and women who serve on the front lines. The OBFD took delivery of a new flashover simulator, a high-tech training tool designed to prepare firefighters for some of the most dangerous situations they face on the job. City leadership backed the investment as part of an ongoing effort to keep first responders safe and ready. The new equipment is expected to make a real difference in how the department trains for extreme fire conditions.

A flashover occurs when a room or space reaches a temperature at which everything inside ignites at once. It is one of the most deadly events a firefighter can encounter. The new simulator gives Orange Beach Fire & Rescue personnel the opportunity to safely experience and recognize those fast-changing fire conditions in a controlled setting. The department recently announced the delivery.

Orange Beach's mayor and city council approved funding for the new equipment. The department thanked city leaders for their continued support of firefighter training and safety. Investing in tools such as the flashover simulator demonstrates a commitment to the people who protect the community every day. It also reflects a broader goal of staying ahead of potential dangers before they become tragedies.

The department wrapped up its announcement of the new equipment with its training motto, a phrase that reflects the culture it is building. "Training is Better Here," the department said. That message is at the heart of what this new simulator represents — a city and a fire department that believe preparation saves lives. For the residents and visitors of Orange Beach, that commitment is something they can count on.
