Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) — The Orange Beach High School football team turned its homecoming game on Friday into a dominant statement, shutting out Francis Marion High School 45-0 to maintain an unblemished 6-0 record on the season. Under head coach Wade Waldrop and the staff, the Makos excelled in all three phases of the game—offense, defense, and special teams—to move to 3-0 in Class 4A, Region 1 standings.

First-Quarter Explosion

Orange Beach set the tone from the opening whistle before its offense even took a snap:

• Kickoff Return TD: Devin Gause fielded the opening kickoff and returned it the length of the field for a touchdown within seconds of kickoff.
• Turnover Capitalization: Moments later, the Makos defense recovered a Francis Marion fumble, setting up a two-play drive finished by Lee Steele on a 17-yard touchdown run.
• Ground Attack: Davis Woodson concluded a three-play, 38-yard drive with an 11-yard rushing touchdown.
• Fourth First-Quarter TD: Cal Creel added a 10-yard scoring run to cap off a four-touchdown opening quarter.

Extending the Lead

• Special Teams Precision: In the second quarter, kicker Evan Crochet drilled a field goal to extend the lead to 31-0 heading into halftime.
• Second-Half Closure: Cal Creel opened the third quarter with an 18-yard touchdown run for his second score of the night.
• Final Touchdown: Zane Rehr added a 5-yard touchdown run to finalize the 45-0 margin.

Five different players reached the end zone, demonstrating the offensive depth and balanced execution that have driven Orange Beach's undefeated start.

With the win, Orange Beach holds a 6-0 overall record (3-0 in region play) and continues to sit near the top of Class 4A, Region 1. Orange Beach hits the road next week for a key region showdown against Williamson High School.

Gulf Shores High School had a bye week and will face Baldwin County next week.
