Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) — The Senior Center in Orange Beach is scheduled to close temporarily for interior updates. The closure will affect most regular programming for most of June. Some activities will move to other locations, while others will not be held during the closure.
The closure is scheduled from June 1 through June 26, 2026. During that period, the facility will be closed to the public. The announcement stated that no public access will be allowed inside the Senior Center while renovations are underway.
A limited number of programs will continue at other sites. The announcement said that some activities will move to the Orange Community Center at 27235 Canal Road. Other classes will be held outdoors in the green behind the Senior Center.
Hand and Foot Canasta meets at the Orange Community Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from nine a.m. to noon. Mah Jongg meets there on Mondays from noon to three p.m. Beginner Mah Jongg meets on Wednesdays from noon to three p.m.
Two yoga classes are expected to continue outdoors behind the Senior Center. Tuesday Yoga Stretch and Balance is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and Thursday Yoga Low-Impact Strength and Mobility is also scheduled for the same time.
The announcement stated that all other regular activities will be canceled during the renovation period. As a result, the temporary schedule will offer only a small portion of the center’s usual programming. Residents who attend other events or activities will need to wait until reopening.
The facility is scheduled to reopen on Monday, June 29, 2026. At that time, activities are expected to resume as normal. The announcement also noted that July will include many activities tied to Parks and Recreation Month.
The temporary closure comes as the center undergoes interior improvements. No details were provided on the full scope of the updates. Still, the announcement made clear that the work requires the building to remain closed to visitors throughout the renovation period.
The revised schedule allows regular participants to continue some weekly activities while work is underway. Card games and Mah Jongg will move indoors to the community center.
The announcement also directed residents to the Orange Beach Senior Center's Facebook page for frequent updates. It said the page will feature sneak peeks of upcoming events, activity information, and online registration details. Some events may also offer online registration.
In addition to online registration, some events may still offer in-person and phone options, according to the announcement. Residents seeking the latest updates on the June schedule, reopening plans, or upcoming July programs are encouraged to follow the
