Orange Beach Softball News

In a battle of top-ranked high school softball teams this past Friday night in Pace, Florida, the Orange Beach Makos shutout the Pace Patriots 2-0. The Makos' pitcher, Kaylee Favors, threw a dominant shutout, striking out 16 batters.

The victory extended Orange Beach's winning streak on the road to eight games, pushing their record to 36-1 this season. Pace's defeat ended their 24-game home winning streak and dropped their record to 21-2.

Orange Beach softball is currently (4/29) ranked 4th in the nation and 1st in the Alabama 4A division.

Orange Beach continued their strong performance into the playoffs, shutting out St. Michael Catholic Cardinals with a 15-0 victory on Monday night. This season, Orange Beach has won 28 games by a margin of seven or more runs.

Since Friday, the Makos have been playing at home. As of today, they've won all of additional games.

Favors has been a reliable force on the mound for Orange Beach, recording at least five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. Kaitlynn Robertson provided the offensive spark for the Makos, going 1-for-3 batting in both of the Mako’s runs Friday night.

Kaylee Favors, who committed to play college softball at South Carolina, has obtained national attention from Sports Illustrated high school SBLive. She is currently ranked 2nd for the Nation's "Player of the week" and only trails by less that 200 votes to be #1.  You can vote HERE to help a local achieve the top goal.
