MOTM holds annual convention along Alabama coast

MOTM Parrot Heads

A special bond exist between the MOTM and the Alabama coast. The Meeting of the Minds will bring thousands of fans, known as Parrot Heads, to the Gulf Shores-Orange Beach area this fall. Organized by Parrot Heads in Paradise, the convention mixes concerts, contests, and community service. It has become a staple for fans of tropical rock music, often called Trop Rock. The event blends beach-themed fun with fundraising, drawing people from across the country.

The 2025 Meeting of the Minds runs from Wednesday, October 22, through Sunday, October 26. Gulf Shores will host performances at local venues, including beachfront stages and bars. The event has previously taken place in Key West and New Orleans, but Gulf Shores is now its regular home.

This year’s lineup features a wide range of artists. Acts include El Wencho, Wheeland Brothers, Homemade Wine, Jesse Rice, Gramps Morgan, and Donny Brewer. Several longtime performers, such as Brent Burns and Jerry Diaz, also return. A reunion show by Homemade Wine will give fans a rare chance to see the original lineup together again.

Beyond music, the schedule includes lighthearted competitions. The TropOlympics, Putt Putt Golf, and a parade known as Parrot Heads on the Brasway are planned. These events highlight the group’s mix of playful spirit and community building. Many gatherings also raise money for charities, underscoring the group’s “Party with a Purpose” motto.

The convention’s hosts will be Radio Margaritaville’s Renee Adams and musician Bill Whyte, who is also a Country Music Radio Hall of Fame broadcaster. Both will guide fans through packed days of shows, social gatherings, and late-night jam sessions. Many hotels in Gulf Shores are listed as preferred accommodations, helping out-of-town guests find easy access to venues.

Venues will include the
HangoutLuLu’sSunliner Diner and the Flora-Bama. For more information about MOTM venues Click Here

Meeting of the Minds is not just a music festival; it is also a reunion for friends who share a love of coastal living and Jimmy Buffett-inspired music. Organizers expect the mix of concerts, games, and charity events to keep the tradition strong. For Gulf Shores, the event continues to grow as both a local draw and a national tradition.
