GSPD respond to spring break nuisances

In an age of so much technology you might think some young students would have used ChatGPT, Gemini or any other of the services to ask "Where is a good beach town to have an underage party for drinking during spring break?" The automated response might have been Daytona or Panama City Beach, but it certainly would not have been Gulf Shores.

With more than a dozen Gulf Shores News articles for AI to review about the spring break drinking bans you might think these future NHS members (National Honor Society) would have selected a less family-friendly environment. Instead they chose to go old school and hear it from official city representatives.
On Friday, March 27, 2026, The Gulf Shores Police Department published the following press release:
Incident 1 — March 26, 2026 , 2400 Block of West Beach Blvd.
On March 26, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM, officers responded to a report of a large house party in the 2400 block of West Beach Blvd. Upon arrival, officers attempted to determine the person responsible for the residence. During this process, an unknown individual poured a large quantity of beer from an upper balcony onto an officer standing below, soaking the officer’s uniform and equipment.
Officers determined that over 100 individuals were inside the residence, the majority of whom were under the legal drinking age. Large quantities of alcohol were located throughout the property.
As a result:
109 individuals were arrested and charged with Underage Possession of Alcohol.
1 individual was charged with Complicity.
4 individuals were released with no charges.
Incident 2 — March 25, 2026, 1300 Block of West Beach Blvd.
On March 25, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM, officers responded to a large house party in the 1300 block of West Beach Blvd. Upon arrival, several individuals fled the scene on foot while others remained.
Officers located significant amounts of alcohol inside the residence. The majority of those present were under the legal age to possess or consume alcohol.
As a result of the investigation:
31 individuals were arrested for Underage Possession of Alcohol.
1 individual was charged with Complicity.
1 individual was charged with Resisting Arrest.
Officers had previously made contact with this group on Monday, March 23, 2026 during an investigation of a large house party in the area. Approximately 70 people were around the house when the officers made contact. Warnings were given to the person responsible for the rental.
Department Statement:
The Gulf Shores Police Department remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for both residents and visitors. Large, unsupervised gatherings involving underage drinking create significant safety risks, strain public resources, and disrupt the peace of surrounding neighborhoods. These behaviors violate state law and will be addressed promptly and consistently.
Our message has not changed: everyone is welcome to enjoy our beautiful beaches and the atmosphere Gulf Shores offers. At the same time, our community, elected leaders, and the police department maintain a zero‑tolerance stance toward conduct that interferes with others’ ability to safely enjoy themselves.
Respect for the law, for private property, and for fellow visitors is essential to keeping Gulf Shores a safe and enjoyable destination.
