Rouses and Restaurants are ready for you on Thanksgiving

Want to spend more time with the family or friends on Thanksgiving? Here are some great local choices that can prepare the meal for you. You can just make reservations or pick-up Thanksgiving at the following locations and forget the normal preparation time.

Rouses offers the full Thanksgiving to-go package or you can select from their list of sides. The are also offering a FREE turkey with a purchase of a ham. Details are below:

THE HANGOUT

Friends-Giving is the theme of the day for the Hangout in Gulf Shores. On November 23rd, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., they offer a "family style" meal.  You can make reservations from the link in the title. Adults: $32.99, Children ages 5-10: $14.99, Kids under 5 eat free! The Reservation prices are paid at the restaurant and are exclusive for those who reserve early! Prices exclude drinks and gratuities. There’s a non-cash adjustment added to each guest check. If paying with a debit or credit card, the fee will be 3.5% added to each guest check. Thank you for understanding.



 THE PANTRY/ORANGE BEACH CONCIERGE

They will again be offering up Thanksgiving to Go with six traditional sides including dressing, gravy and cranberry sauce, brined turkey and roasted tenderloin for entrées and French silk pie and pumpkin pie for dessert. Click here for pricing information. Orders must be submitted and paid for by Nov. 17 and pick up will be Nov. 22 at The Pantry. 


WOLF BAY LODGE

The Foley restaurant will have a Thanksgiving Day buffet with entrées of turkey breast, prime rib and baked ham. Among the 10 side offerings are dressing, sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese and the restaurant’s famous salad bar will be open as well. A table of assorted desserts will be available. Costs are $38 for adults, $19 for ages 4 to 12 and kids under 3 eat for free.


KIVA DUNES GOLF AND BEACH RESORT

The golf resort’s Kiva Grill is offering a traditional Thanksgiving with entrées of turkey and ham and sides of stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and yeast rolls. Dessert offerings include pumpkin or pecan pie. Reservations must be made by Nov. 20 and the cost is $26.95 per person.


FLORA-BAMA LOUNGE AND OYSTER BAR

The Bama will have its annual Thanksgiving potluck providing turkey and ham with the public providing side dishes. Serving starts at 1 p.m. and guests who don’t bring a side can pay $5 to enjoy the buffet.

 

COBALT THE RESTAURANT

Cobalt will have a Thanksgiving buffet with six entrées including fried turkey and seared tuna and salmon cakes, 13 sides including dressing, sausage stuffing and cranberry sauce and eight desserts including pumpkin pie and ambrosia. Costs are $32 for adults, $16 for kids 6 to 12 and $8 for ages 4 and under. Serving starts at 10 a.m. with the last seating at 3:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested.


ZEKE'S LANDING

Zeke's Landing will have TWO options for the holiday. In Person - We will be open Thursday, November 23rd from 11am to 4pm with the last seating at 3pm. We will offer regular lunch menu along with our specialty Thanksgiving menu.

GT’S ON THE BAY

GT’s will also have a first seating at 10 a.m. with the final seating at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $30 for adults, $15 for kids 6 to 12 and $7.50 for ages 5 and under.

 

LUNA’S EAT AND DRINK

Luna’s will have two buffets for Thanksgiving, one in the restaurant and one in Magnolia Hall next door. Entrées will include turkey and gravy, glazed ham and buttermilk brined fried chicken. Among the 13 sides are mashed potatoes, stuffing and sweet potato casserole. Sister restaurant BuzzCatz Coffee and Sweets will provide a variety of desserts. Costs are $30 for adults, $15 for ages 6 to 12 and $7.50 for 5 and under.

 

PERDIDO BEACH RESORT

The Grand Ballroom will offer a buffet with seatings at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving including soups and salads and fruit boards for starters, entrées of turkey breast and smoked turkey legs, braised short rib, shrimp and grits, a ham carving station and lemon pepper mahi mahi. Sides include deviled eggs, bacon and oyster dressing and Conecuh cornbread stuffing are among nine offerings. Six desserts will be available to top off the meal, including brown butter sweet potato tart and white chocolate bread pudding. DOC’S SEAFOOD SHACK AND OYSTER BAR

Both restaurants will be open and have Thanksgiving items available as well as the regular menu.

 

HAZEL’S NOOK

Your favorite buffet place will be open with a Thanksgiving buffet and be open for breakfast as well.


THE MEAT MART

Your local butcher shop will be offering Joyce Farms no-hormone, no-antibiotic free-range turkeys in 10 to 14 or 20 to 24 pounds for $3.99 a pound. Or applewood smoked spiral sliced half hams at $8.99 a pound, with an average of eight pounds apiece. For sides, The Meat Mart is offering four homemade casseroles including sweet potato, mac and cheese, green bean and cornbread dressing. All are about three pounds and oven-ready in disposable baking pans for $23.99 apiece.

 

LULU’S AT HOMEPORT MARINA

LuLu’s will be closed on Thanksgiving, but will be offering Black Friday deals in the gift shop at the waterfront dining and entertainment complex.

 

BUBBA’S SEAFOOD HOUSE

Bubba will be serving up traditional fare starting at 11 a.m. with turkey, cornbread dressing, gravy and cranberry with two sides. Among those are mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole and steamed vegetables. The dinner includes apple cobbler and you can add a scoop of ice cream for $2. Prices are $26.95 for adults, $19.95 for ages 65 and older and $9.95 for kids 3 to 10. Reservations are encouraged.

 

BON TEMPS POBOYS AND SPECIALTY MEAT

This cozy and authentic Cajun restaurant will be selling Cajun-seasoned fried turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner. $110 for the turkey. Green bean casserole, sweet potato crunch and cornbread dressing $35 each. Deadline Nov 15th. Call 251-981-3172 for more information or to place your order.

That special time of the year has arrived where beachgoers share the sand with turtles that nest and lay up to 100 eggs per clutch along the beach. The annual nesting season for many of thee sea turtles has been happening long before some of the people ever frolicked amongst the waves. The average life span of most sea turtles is 50 to 100 years and they often return to their place of birth to deposit eggs for the next generation.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
