These events combine swimming, cycling, and running, with thousands of sanctioned and unsanctioned competitions held annually. Triathlons demand high physical and mental fortitude, requiring athletes to engage in rigorous training regimens that often extend over several years. Competitors follow strict nutrition, exercise, and sleep protocols to optimize their performance making sure to be well prepared for the big runoff. This Saturday at 7 AM, the annual Alabama Coastal Triathlon sponsored by Brett Robinson and hosted by the Hangout will commence. The first spread features a 1.5k swim in the salty waters of the Gulf, followed by a challenging 40k cycling segment through Gulf State Park, culminating in a scenic 10k run.
