Employee injured at Foley's Planet Fitness

news near Gulf Shores

An incident Wednesday afternoon at the Foley Planet Fitness left one person seriously injured and gym goers terrified.

A white Chevrolet truck slammed into the building in the Outdoor Center Shopping mall off South McKenzie Street. The glass shattered, and the storefront supports were badly damaged.

An employee was pinned and had to be airlifted from the scene to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. The employee, who also works as a karate instructor at Tuckers Tang Soo Do in Robertsdale, shattered a bone in his forearm, according to his employer. He did not suffer head, neck, or spine injuries and was sent home from the hospital Wednesday night.

Although the young man will undergo surgery to repair the broken bone, his employer said it is evident God had his hand of protection on him.

The storefront was boarded up and the scene was cleared to allow Planet Fitness to reopen.

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.
