U.S. Rep. Barry Moore States Several Coastal Industries 'Excited' For Tariffs

Shrimpers have praised the new tariffs

News in Gulf Shores

Multiple industries in the Gulf Coast and Alabama are happy about President Donald Trump's recent tariff announcements on foreign businesses, according to U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise).

Moore said during an interview with NewsNation on Sunday that Trump's tariffs would help multiple industries in his congressional district and Alabama.

"When I was down in the district a couple weeks ago, the shrimp producers on the Gulf Coast, the crabbers, the fishers, they're excited about the tariffs because China was allowed to just dump products in our markets. Same with foresters, they're kind of excited about these tariffs. Even last time when President Trump was going through this process, he used the Commodities Credit Corporation to help some of these farmers make them whole."

Moore said. "If we start really enforcing the agreements that we had with China when President Trump was in office in 2017, where he said, 'You've got to buy so much of American produce.' That would've been fine. What happened was Biden walked away from that. Nobody held them accountable. They violated the rules and regulations, so we had inflation with low commodity prices. It crushed the farmers. We lost 150,000 farmers in the last administration. President Trump is going to take care of them. We're going to see to that. We don't have a President that has had better history in trading or doing business with foreign countries than Trump. He was a foreign businessman dealing with other countries long before he took this job. He knows how to do these deals. We've had over 80 countries come to the table. It's going to be good for American producers and manufacturing. President Trump is the guy to do it. He's the man who can take care of this. I'm optimistic for our farmers and their future."
