Dollar General is set to pay $15,000,000 to end a class action lawsuit alleging the retailer regularly charged consumers different prices for products at checkout than the prices advertised on its shelf labels across Dollar General stores nationwide.

The Dollar General class action settlement received preliminary court approval  and covers all consumers in the United States who paid more or less than the advertised price for merchandise displayed on the shelf at a Dollar General store at any time between October 10, 2016 and December 15, 2025. This date range, per court documents, is also referred to as the “class period.”

The court-approved website for the Dollar General settlement can be found at DGPricesSettlement.com.

To receive cash benefits, court documents say that Dollar General settlement class members must include with their timely, valid claim form proof of a contemporaneously submitted complaint during the class period to a governmental entity or to Dollar General concerning an alleged price overcharge on a product the class member purchased for which no refund has been issued within 30 days of its occurrence.

Settlement documents note that “government entity” refers to any local, state, or federal government agency. Further, class members must include documentation of the price overcharge, such as photographs or receipts.

Settlement class members who satisfy these requirements are eligible to receive a one-time cash payment of $10 or the amount they were overcharged (whichever is higher), with a maximum household recovery of $20 or the total of the amount of the actual overcharges, the settlement site relays.

Additionally, the settlement site reports that Dollar General class members are eligible to receive with no proof required an “in-store benefit,” in the form of a $3 discount on their first purchase of at least $10, pretax.

This discount will be made available for redemption during a two-day window (excluding Saturday) to be announced by the company at a later date that can be used at any Dollar General store nationwide, the agreement explains, but it will not be applicable for use on the purchase of a phone, gift card, prepaid financial card, prepaid wireless handset, Rug Doctor rental, propane, tobacco, alcohol, or milk.

To receive a cash payout, class members can submit a settlement claim form online by heading to this page and entering the unique notice ID and confirmation code as found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, they can download a PDF claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

To register to receive the $3 discount, settlement class members do not need to submit a claim form; however, they must either register for a myDG account here, OR complete an online registration form here, OR download a PDF of the registration form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator. Class members who make a myDG account will have the $3 discount automatically applied to their purchase when they enter their phone number at checkout, the agreement reports.

All Dollar General settlement claim forms and registrations must be completed online or postmarked by April 13, 2026.
