According to Niche Rankings, the best high school in the State of Alabama in not known for their football team. The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is known for academics. The school recently placed #1 in Alabama and #19 in the nation for Best Public Schools In America.


The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is our state’s only fully public and residential high school for sophomores, juniors, and seniors seeking advanced studies in math, science, computer science, and the humanities. Tuition, room, and board are free.


The magnet school has over 300 students from around the State of Alabama. Their students have an average ACT score of 30 and they have produced over 180 National Merit finalists.


ASMS has been providing an advanced education in math, science, and the humanities dating back to 1989 before "STEM" was ever a buzzword or an official paradigm in education. Nestled in Mobile's beautiful Old Dauphin Way Historic District, ASMS was founded by the Alabama State Legislature to better prepare Alabama's future leaders.
