Allegiant Announces Passenger Upgrades

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Allegiant has officially announced new enhancements aimed at improving the overall passenger travel experience. Starting August 1, 2026, travelers can enjoy a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage on every flight. Furthermore, the airline is introducing "Allegiant First," a new premium seating class built for elevated comfort, which is scheduled to arrive on select flights in early 2027. These initiatives mark the latest step in the company's commitment to delivering a consistent, value-based experience for its customers.

For the Gulf Shores community, these improvements are especially significant. As the primary airline providing service to the area, Allegiant serves as a vital bridge connecting our residents and local travelers to a variety of cities across the country. This consistent presence provides essential connectivity, allowing Gulf Shores to maintain accessible, non-stop routes that are crucial for both tourism and resident travel.

In addition to these service updates, Allegiant has also finalized a major strategic shift in the aviation industry: the $1.5 billion acquisition of Sun Country Airlines. Closed in May 2026, this merger combines two leisure-focused carriers, creating a powerful network with a combined fleet of 195 aircraft serving nearly 175 cities. While both airlines currently operate independently, the long-term integration strategy aims to bring both carriers under the Allegiant brand, eventually offering customers a more robust and capable travel network.

Beyond the operational changes in the skies, Allegiant’s continued growth carries a meaningful impact on the ground in Gulf Shores. Both the airline's staff and the travelers who arrive on its flights contribute directly to the prosperity of our local economy. By consistently bringing visitors into the region, Allegiant plays a key role in boosting our local businesses’ bottom lines, supporting local dining, retail, and hospitality services that make Gulf Shores a vibrant community for everyone.
