Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Allegiant Travel Company has been named the Best Low-Cost Airline in North America at the 2026 World Airline Awards. Presented by international air transport rating organization Skytrax at a ceremony in London, the recognition marks the third consecutive year Allegiant has earned the top honor in this category.

Widely regarded across the industry as the "Oscars of aviation," the Skytrax World Airline Awards are determined through the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey. The 2026 results reflect participation from more than 100 customer nationalities, with 24.8 million eligible entries counted during the survey period from September 2025 through August 2026.

"Three years running is a reflection of the consistency our team members bring to every flight," said Greg Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of Allegiant. "As we grow, our commitment to delivering a seamless, comfortable and convenient travel experience for our customers hasn't changed, and this recognition tells us that focus is resonating with the people who matter most: our passengers."

Edward Plaisted, Chief Executive Officer of Skytrax, commended the airline's accomplishment: "We congratulate Allegiant on this fabulous achievement by winning this third successive award as North America's Best Low-Cost Airline. It is a very strong recognition from customers of Allegiant's service standards and customer-focused approach."

Strategic Integration with Sun Country Airlines

The award arrives as Allegiant continues its strategic integration with Sun Country Airlines, which earned the same Skytrax recognition in 2023. Together, the combined entity forms a premier value-focused airline network operating nearly 200 aircraft and serving almost 175 cities across scheduled passenger, charter, and cargo operations.

While both carriers currently maintain separate brands and booking systems, Allegiant is working toward obtaining a single operating certificate and creating a unified customer experience over the next two years.

Broader Industry Accolades

This latest Skytrax victory adds to a series of recent industry accolades for Allegiant:

  • The Wall Street Journal: Ranked as the #2 U.S. airline overall and the top value carrier.
  • J.D. Power North America Airline Satisfaction Study: Recognized among the top three U.S. airlines overall and named the #1 ultra-low-cost carrier.

By focusing on nonstop routes connecting communities across the United States, Allegiant continues to solidify its place as a leader in affordable, reliable leisure travel.
