Buc-ee's' Competitor Acquires New Locations In Gulf Shores And Foley

Based in Iowa, Casey's owns nearly 3,000 locations

CEFCO convenience and fuel stores have been a staple Gulf Shores, Foley and Robertsdale, Alabama. Casey's General Stores acquired Fikes Wholesale, the parent company of CEFCO Convenience Stores, for $1.145 billion, expanding its footprint by 198 stores, primarily in Buc-ee's home state of Texas.
The deal makes Casey's the third-largest convenience retailer in the U.S., with plans to rebrand the locations to Casey's. A local CEFCO manager said the team was looking forward to the rebranding and that the acquisition paperwork was already complete.
The hallmark of its in-store offerings is its expansive pizza program, which has evolved over the years to include delivery and online ordering. Casey's is the fifth-largest seller of pizza in the United States, according to their website.
Casey's is not match for Buc-ee's merchandising but their pizza menu is famous in the Midwest. An article in Mashed states Casey's is the pioneer of the classic Midwestern Style breakfast pizza.
“Our growth in Alabama and Florida is an exciting chapter for Casey’s as we welcome new guests, team members and communities into Casey’s Country," Ena Williams, Casey’s chief operating officer, said in a statement. "At Casey’s, our purpose is to make life better for our communities and guests every day, and we look forward to serving our new neighbors.”
The convenience store chain is known for their charity work in local communities. In 2025, Casey’s provided more than 8.6 million meals, supported more than 2,000 veterans and their families and funded 80 Cash for Classroom projects, donating a total of $6.6 million, according to its 2025 community impact report.
