The Foley Public Library will offer a free seminar

Foley Library Computer Classes

In an increasingly technology-driven world, digital literacy is no longer just an advantage—it's a necessity. For residents of South Baldwin County and surrounding areas looking to boost their computer skills the local libraries are stepping up. People who need computer instruction have several free options available from the Foley Public Library.

The library’s Computer Lab is offering one-on-one lessons. The sessions last between 45-minutes and one hour. The lessons are available to everyone, not just Foley Library cardholders.

Available sessions include assistance with personal devices like cell phones, laptops and tablets, as well as popular Foley Library apps such as Libby, Hoopla and Mango, with productivity software like Microsoft Office and Google Suites, with basic computer skills and more.

Anyone wanting to schedule a one-on-one session can call the Foley Public Library Computer Lab at (251) 943-7665, ext. 409 or 414, or stop by the Computer Lab desk, located on Foley Public Library’s second floor.

The Computer Lab also offers both classes and seminars on a variety of topics. Past classes and seminars have included Computer Basics, Introduction to Microsoft Office, Cyber Security and Introduction to Google Suite.

The next free seminar offered by the Foley Public Library Computer Lab will be “What is Streaming?” on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Those attending the seminar can learn what streaming is, what streaming platforms are available and how to make the transition to using streaming media.

The seminar is intended to make attendees more confident in using streaming media in their everyday lives.

Registration is required. To register for the “What Is Streaming?” seminar, and to see other upcoming events, go to foleylibrary.org and click on the Events Calendar.

For questions, or additional information, call the Foley Public Library Computer Lab at (251) 943-7665, ext. 409 or 414.

All one-on-one tutoring sessions, classes, and seminars are free to attend.
