So grab your calendar (and maybe your flip-flops), because here’s what’s happening and what's good along the Alabama Coastline and beyond. 

Monday, August 3rd- As the warm blanket of summer slowly turns, the sounds of summer and sunny days are still vibing strongly. Grab your swimsuits and chairs and head out to the public beach in front of The Hangout! This Monday, soak up some rays, catch waves, and enjoy all these coastal towns continue to offer. As the days are bright with sunshine and good times, the evenings are filled with live music, dancing, and great food just up from the beach. Check out live music at The Hangout with WB Sims and the Homies playing from 6 to 10 PM. Here on the coast, the fun never ends; it just shifts with the seasons.

Tuesday, August 4th- The moment has finally arrived for the opening of the Foley Community Library. Join others for the highly anticipated grand opening this Tuesday from 10:30 AM to 5 PM. Spend the day exploring the aisles of the brand new library- fun for the whole family. There will be a scavenger hunt with prizes such as a Kindle Fire Plus, corner nook story times, crafts, games, demos, and plenty of activities. Drop in at any time or stay for the day and celebrate this new chapter while discovering all the new reading spots and more. The library is perfectly situated for a pleasant outdoor walk through Foley after your visit, ideal for discovering new shops and eateries while enjoying the charm of this southern town, only a few miles from the beach.

Wednesday, August 5th- School bells will soon be ringing as Orange Beach city schools prepare to start back. The Orange Beach store has all your fresh Mako gear, from shirts for kids and parents, hoodies, crew sweatshirts, tumblers, and more. Be sure to be styling for this school year and stop by the Orange Beach store just in time before the schoolhouse rocks. Not a Mako? Thursday, August 6th- It may still feel like summer outside, and believe us when we say the warmth is here to stay for a while, so have no fear, but that doesn't stop us from gladly getting right to seasonal traditions. Like the local and visitor favorite, S’mores on the Shore. Holiday thrills, done coastal style, with bonfires on the beach, food trucks, and more. If you've never experienced this, be sure to mark your calendars; it's a good time—guaranteed. For over 16 years, this event has been beloved. It’s free, it brings the community and its guests together, and you guessed it—there’ll be music with the merriment from 6 to 8 PM.

Friday, August 7th- The 28th annual professional rodeo hosted by the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation returns this Thursday through Saturday, running from 5 PM to 11 PM each evening. This exciting family-friendly event is packed with entertainment for everyone. Kids will love the nightly Kids Corral, a fun-filled area where they can enjoy hands-on activities like calf scrambling for ages 6 to 12. No need to worry about dinner—there will be plenty of concessions and vendors, plus fun activities for all ages to keep everyone satisfied. The rodeo will showcase livestock from Bo Campbell Rodeo Productions, along with thrilling professional competitions and hilarious rodeo clowns making each event one that appeals to all. Adults can enjoy the show for just $18, while kids under three get in free, and children ages 3 to 12 can attend for only $15. Part of the proceeds will support the Jennifer Moore Foundation’s mission, assisting services like Baldwin County Communities Schools and promoting social and emotional well-being for local youth, among other important initiatives. Introducing Sand Stock, Flora-Bama’s ode to Woodstock—if you missed the first round or this ode, don't worry, your time to jam is now! Visit Mikey Seafood, a family-owned establishment that has been caring for its customers since 1987. Not only are they skilled seafood providers, but they also offer plenty of beef, chicken, and pasta options, such as the island burger, fried chicken breast Po-boy, and all-you-can-eat catfish. Or see the latest concept from owners Eddie Spence and David Cahoon with The Steamer and Baked Oyster Bar. Here, you’ll find, of course, steamed dishes and some of the best baked oysters in Gulf Shores, serving everything from locally fresh produce to Royal Reds, crab legs, and much more.
