Sail Wild Hearts Excursions

Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) — Our small slice of the world is known for the beauty of the water, yet many do not get to view this from a water or "blue space" perspective. For those seeking the ultimate coastal adventure on the Alabama Gulf Coast, few experiences capture the spirit of the water quite like a journey aboard Sail Wild Hearts. More than just a boat tour, this premier sailing experience serves as a testament to one man’s lifelong passion for the coastline and the community he serves.

The story of Sail Wild Hearts is anchored in the vision of its owner, Ted Scarritt, a lifelong champion of the Gulf Coast. Decades ago, Scarritt launched Perdido Beach Service, a venture that would become a premier beach service provider in the region. However, Scarritt’s connection to the water ran deeper than umbrellas and beach chair rentals; he harbored a long-standing dream of sharing the freedom of sailing with the community.

For over 40 years, Scarritt has dedicated himself to protecting, exploring, and enhancing the coastal landscapes of Perdido Key, Orange Beach, and Gulf Shores. Sail Wild Hearts was born from this commitment—a true labor of love designed to offer locals and visitors alike a front-row seat to the natural beauty of the Gulf. His dedication has created a tight-knit team of employees, many of whom have been by his side for decades, helping to foster a work environment where a genuine love for the sea is shared with every passenger.

Sail Wild Hearts operates a stunning 53-foot Gold Coast sailing catamaran. Built in St. Croix, the vessel is a masterpiece of design, crafted from strip-planked cedar and epoxy for durability. It features a massive 1,000-square-foot sail area and a wide 30-foot beam, ensuring a smooth, seaworthy, and exciting ride. The catamaran’s multi-level deck comfortably accommodates up to 49 passengers, offering plenty of space to socialize or find a quiet corner for reflection.

Beyond offering a variety of destinations, the excursion company offers a diverse roster of cruises to suit any interest:

  • Dolphin Cruises: Morning and afternoon expeditions perfect for spotting pods at play in the calm, serene waters.
  • Sunset Cruise: A relaxing way to end the day, where the horizon feels close enough to touch.
  • Family Adventure Sail: A two-hour nature excursion where families can learn about the local waterways, look for wildlife, and enjoy catch-and-release fishing.
  • Fireworks Sail: A festive experience timed to provide the perfect view of local fireworks displays.

Whether you are looking to commemorate a special occasion, host a memorial at sea, or simply spend an afternoon reconnecting with family, Sail Wild Hearts offers a unique "Calgon Take Me Away" moment. As Captain Zach often notes, sailing offers a sense of freedom that is never the same twice.
