A fishing rodeo that is for any size boat .. or no boat

Gulf Shores fishing news

One of the most popular fishing tournaments along the Gulf Coast is one that every angler can enter, regardless of their age or size of their boat. The Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo returns this weekend and is sure to have fisher men and women from 8 to 80 years old.

The event welcomes both seasoned fishermen and first-timers—no boat is required to compete. With prizes, live music, and food, it's a full weekend of Gulf Coast entertainment. Registration is now open and includes both youth and adult divisions.

The rodeo runs from this coming Friday, June 6th through Sunday, June 8th, with online ticket sales closing at 11:59 PM on Thursday, June 5. The competition begins at midnight on June 6th and ends Saturday, June 7th at 7 PM. All weigh-ins will take place at the Flora-Bama Ole River Grille beach area between 2 PM and 7 PM on Friday and Saturday. Anglers must be in line before 7 PM to weigh their catch.

Adult registration is $50 for participants ages 13 and up. Kids 12 and under can register for $25. Prizes include kayaks, coolers, high-end fishing gear, gift cards, and more. The event is supported by many sponsors from around the region.

The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 8th at 11 AM at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club Stage. Local musician Kyle Brady will perform after the ceremony. Tournament festivities also include live music, food, and drinks at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club and Ole River Grill.

A virtual captain’s meeting will take place on the Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo Facebook page on Thursday, June 5th at 6 PM. The event benefits Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), a nonprofit that supports returning U.S. service members and their families.

Tickets and event details are available at Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo.
