Foley Big Rig Event

Big rigs will roll to the Foley Public Library to give children a chance for an up-close experience with a variety of heavy equipment.

The library will hold the second Big Rigs @ the Library; A Touch-a-Truck Event, on Saturday, Oct. 11. The activity will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. behind the library at 319 E. Laurel Ave.

The family-friendly community event is now in its second year. Children of all ages can get up close with the big equipment that keeps the city moving.

In partnership with the Foley Street Department, the event will showcase a lineup of heavy equipment that includes tractors, backhoes, trackhoes, bucket trucks and more. The event will also feature live demonstrations.

Visitors can also explore vehicles and equipment from the Foley Police Department, Foley Fire Department and more.

One new attraction this year will be the opportunity for attendees to see a helicopter up close.

In addition to the trucks and equipment, families will also be able to enjoy yard games, a giant sand pile, live entertainment from a one-man band and a variety of treats from a local coffee truck and Kona Ice.

The event is free and open to the public. Anyone wanting more information can contact the Foley Public Library at (251) 943-7665.
