Calling all kayak enthusiasts, from those just starting out to seasoned paddlers, it's time to take your skills to the next level. The 3rd annual kayak training and instructor certification workshop is happening from Monday, April 15th through the 19th, with open registration for anyone interested. Safenav Marine will provide comprehensive instruction and skill assessments, and successful participants will have the opportunity to become certified ACA L1 or L2 Coastal Kayak Instructors. Wednesday, April 17th - 
What did the grape say when the vigneron stepped on it? Nothing, it just let out a little wine. French wine, that is, the final nucleus in 2024’s tasting series at Zeke’s Restaurant will feature a delightful taste of the French isles. The cost is $100, reservations are required and can be made in person when dropping off the deposit. Spots are limited for this fabulous tasty tour of one of the top wine-producing countries pallet style. The outdoor atmosphere at Zeke’s glistens with starlight and dazzling illumination from the marina’s fleet radiating across the waters of cotton bayou and beyond. This is undoubtedly a brilliant location to sample such distinguished fine wine and dinner starting at 6 PM to ensure a coastal sunset before the night sparkles take the lead. Thursday, April 18th - 
Learn about the history of navigation and how early explorers relied on the solar system to traverse the oceans. Understand how their use of Latitude and Longitude led to the Meridian Passage navigation system. 


Meet at the Nature Center located within Gulf State Park Campground as they take a deeper dive into the history of navigation from 11AM-12PM. To continue an exploration into the historical context, drive over to the Indian and Sea Museum in Orange Beach to learn more about its Native American and fishing heritage. Observe various local artifacts and memorabilia showcasing the rich culture of the area's land and waterways.

Join MAAAC, Makos, Academics, Arts & Athletics Club, a non-profit organization that works tirelessly to support and advance the cause of improving our local City schools by promoting and encouraging innovative initiatives and programs that benefit students, teachers, and the entire Orange Beach community. “Get ready to paw-ty” with Music Arts and Barks at the Gulf Shores Recreation Department's first ever Doggy-Fest. Registration is $10 per dog and includes an on-site pet caricature and a sweet swag bag. Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.

It’s Saturday morning, the second day of the 6A Section 1 Track Meet at Saraland High School. Coach Brewer has piloted the Dolphins bus to this place several times this season, but today a thick, milky fog has engulfed the panorama, limiting the vision of what’s ahead, save for head coach Jason Hill. He’s studied today’s upcoming events and is hopeful for the upset.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.
