Gulf Shores city officials are inviting nonprofit organizations to apply for funding that supports vital services for residents. The City has opened the Spring 2026 cycle of its Nonprofit Grants Program, which supports community groups expanding programs that serve Gulf Shores residents. City leaders say the initiative is part of a broader effort to meet community needs and strengthen local support networks. The program focuses on groups that provide direct help to residents, from emergency aid to education and the arts.

Applications for the Spring 2026 grant cycle are being accepted now through February 15. The Spring and Fall cycles provide nonprofits with two opportunities each year to seek support from the city. Grants are awarded twice annually, in spring and fall.

Through the Nonprofit Grants Program, eligible organizations can receive up to $2,000 per cycle, with a maximum of $4,000 in city funding during a calendar year. Groups need not be physically located within the city limits of Gulf Shores, but they must provide services that directly benefit Gulf Shores residents. Funding may be used for community projects, events, or essential resources, but not for salaries, debt payments, operational costs, or political lobbying.

City Administrator Jon Walker said the grant program is designed to back organizations that are already making a strong impact. “The Nonprofit Grants Program reflects our dedication to supporting organizations that make a real difference in the lives of Gulf Shores residents,” Walker said. “We want to ensure these groups have the resources they need to continue their important work.”

Applications submitted for the Spring 2026 cycle will be reviewed by the City’s Grant Review Committee. Committee members will prioritize nonprofits that demonstrate the ability to create significant local impact and to use funds efficiently to serve residents. Applicants must also show how their projects or programs align with identified community needs.

In the most recent Fall 2025 cycle, grants were awarded to a range of organizations working in crisis relief, transportation, the arts, science, and literacy. The Christian Service Center received support for emergency assistance to residents in crisis, while Sea Glass Initiative was funded for transportation services for unhoused and vulnerable individuals. Gulf Coast Arts Alliance, the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium, and the South Baldwin Literacy Council were also awarded grants for programs in art education, coastal research and education, and adult literacy and ESL instruction.
