NCAA Beach Volleyball places spotlight on Gulf Shores

NCCA Beach Volleyball in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Gulf Shores is preparing to host a major collegiate sporting event as top teams from across the country arrive for the national championship. The competition will feature 16 of the nation’s leading beach volleyball teams, with matches held on the city’s public beaches. Officials expect the event to draw athletes, fans, and visitors to the area.


The community will also be featured on nation televison as the event is broadcast with exclusive coverage on ESPN2, ESPN+, and the ESPN App.


The 2026 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship is scheduled for May 1 through May 3. The event will crown the NCAA Beach Volleyball National Champion. Gulf Shores has been a regular host site for the championship in past years.

Alabama's Beaches Sports & Events, the city of Gulf Shores, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) have hosted this event since its inaugural tournament in 2016.


Organizers say the event offers an opportunity to watch high-level collegiate competition on the beach. The tournament format brings together top-ranked programs from across the country. Teams will compete in a series of matches culminating in the championship round. The winning team will claim the national title trophy.
