Local Survivor player has made it twice to finals

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (GSN) – Gulf Shores native Jonathan Young finished his run on the milestone Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans season as the Runner-Up. The beach service company owner returned for his second chance at the title and the $2 million prize, ultimately falling short to winner Aubry Bracco.
Locals have been watching this season and cheering for a resident almost everyone has met in recent years. Whether you are in a coffee shop, local store or at the gym, Jonathan has time for greeting and a comment of encouragement.
Young first competed on Survivor 42, where he was eliminated in the Final Four after losing the fire-making challenge. For Survivor 50, he showcased what he called his "2.0 game," successfully supplementing his physical dominance—which included winning five total challenges—with a subtle social and strategic game. His comprehensive play made him a favorite among the final contestants.

In a moment of redemption that secured his place in the Final Three, Young won the Final Four fire-making challenge, defeating Rizo Velovic and overcoming the obstacle that took him out in his previous season. Young, Bracco, and Joe Hunter made up the Final Three who pitched their case to the jury.
Although Young received several votes from the jury for his efforts, the jury ultimately felt that his game, while defining him as the "total package," was not a "two-million-dollar one". Aubry Bracco was crowned the Sole Survivor. The finale aired live on Wednesday, May 20, and was not without its own drama, as a mishap by host Jeff Probst during the live Los Angeles reunion show accidentally spoiled Young's victory in the fire-making challenge before it aired.
