Airport travelers will need to use alternate routes

Airport Access Road Closed

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Drivers in Gulf Shores should prepare for travel disruptions beginning Monday, August 31. The City of Gulf Shores has announced a full closure of East 29th Avenue to accommodate planned intersection upgrades aimed at enhancing safety and traffic flow.

The closure will span from the intersection of Highway 59 to the entrance of The Track and is scheduled to remain in effect through September 30. During this month-long project, motorists traveling to or from the Gulf Shores International Airport (Jack Edwards Airport) will need to utilize alternate routes.

Recommended Detours:

  • East 2nd Street: Use this route to navigate around the construction zone.
  • Waterway East Boulevard: An additional option for accessing the airport and nearby areas.

City officials advise drivers to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time. For inquiries regarding the project, residents can contact the Gulf Shores City Engineering Office at 251-968-5059. For further updates, visit the City of Gulf Shores website or follow their Facebook page.
