Local schools becoming coastal powerhouses

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Football

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — South Baldwin County is officially home to two of the hottest high school football teams on the Alabama coast. Following spectacular performances on Friday night, both the Gulf Shores High School Dolphins and the Orange Beach High School Makos have improved to 2-0 on the young season, remaining undefeated and building massive momentum for the weeks ahead.

Dolphins Ground the Saints in 34-10 Victory

At Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium (Gulf Shores Sports Plex), the Gulf Shores Dolphins put on a show for their home crowd, defeating St. Paul’s Episcopal School Saints with a commanding 34-10 victory.

The Dolphins' home crowd packed the stadium, utilizing the newly designated home side of the field (opposite the volleyball complex) to cheer on their team. This impressive performance follows a hard-fought 30-21 Week 1 win against Parklane Academy on August 21, 2026. With their offense finding its rhythm early and their defense locking down the Saints, the Dolphins are proving that they are ready to defend their status as a coastal power.

Makos Dominate Monroe County in 56-0 Shutout

Just down the road on Canal Road, the Orange Beach Makos delivered a flawless defensive and offensive showcase on their home turf. Hosting Monroe County High School, the Makos cruised to an absolute blowout, winning 56-0.

The overwhelming 56-point margin comes on the heels of another impressive performance in Week 1, where the Makos secured a strong road victory against T.R. Miller High School on August 21, 2026. Dominating in all three phases of the game, Orange Beach sent a loud message to the rest of the region that they are a force to be feared this season.

Next Week's Opponents To Test Both Teams

As the 2026 season moves into Week 3, both coastal powerhouses are preparing for their next tests on the gridiron. The Gulf Shores Dolphins look to keep their perfect record intact as they square off against Saraland, while the Orange Beach Makos aim to extend their undefeated streak with a challenging matchup against Vigor.

For the neighboring communities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, high school football is a showcase of coastal island pride. As the Dolphins and the Makos continue their dominant, undefeated starts, they capture the collective spirit south of the ICW, drawing passionate local crowds that rally behind their teams.
