Annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge

Football is woven into our southern souls. As the teams prepare for another season so should the fans. At the beach we have a special way to get our tailgating game in shape. We start off with the Annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge at the Wharf.


The theme of this year's challenge is BACON! You and your tailgate team can come sample great culinary ideas from local Chefs and even vote for the BEST pre-game food entry.


Inviting all foodies, sports fans, and culinary masters: The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber is excited to announce the return of our Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama.
 

This is not your ordinary cook-off - it's a high-energy, game day atmosphere where attendees can sample a variety of tailgate style foods featuring bacon in a starring role from some of the best culinary teams/individuals around. Attendees can also expect live music, games, and of course some good eats. So come hungry and come excited. This is an event you won't want to miss.

And for competitors, the stakes are high! Teams/individuals will be competing for a
 golden ticket to the World Food Championships in Indianapolis, IN to compete in the BACON categoryPLUS attendees will be voting on a People's Choice Award. The winning team will receive a trophy and prize package.

We'll also be giving away an award to the best dressed fan, so gear up to support your favorite team!

Public Tasting: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.


Fees/Admission:

$20 - Entry into the event with 10 tasting tickets (more available for purchase on-site: 5 for $10) - CHILDREN 5 AND UNDER ADMITTED FREE

Tracking fish with sonar has been available to the public since 1948, when the famous Furuno brothers introduced the product in their native Japan. A 'salty' charter captain might add that it was Lowrance that brought it to the U.S. fishing market. But whomever you credit, NOAA has now combined it with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide better chart mapping and even fish count locations of fish in the gulf. The results could impact local fishing seasons in the future.

It’s Saturday morning, the second day of the 6A Section 1 Track Meet at Saraland High School. Coach Brewer has piloted the Dolphins bus to this place several times this season, but today a thick, milky fog has engulfed the panorama, limiting the vision of what’s ahead, save for head coach Jason Hill. He’s studied today’s upcoming events and is hopeful for the upset.

A decorated urn containing human ashes washed up on Gulf Shores beach this past week, starting a mystery that local police have now solved. The container was discovered by people walking along the shore on West Beach on April 17. The urn had no name or identification on the outside.
