The final stretch of July is packed with options that highlight the area’s passion for gathering, entertainment, and the simple pleasures found by the shore.
Monday, July 21st- With only two weeks left of summer, the countdown is on to pack in as much fun as possible, and the Wharf in Orange Beach has something for everyone every night of the week. Kick off the week by shaking off those Monday blues and heading down for "Main Street Beats." Families can relax, shop, eat, and explore together. DJ Matt will be spinning tunes from 6 PM to 9 PM, and you won’t want to miss the SPECTRA Laser Light Experience, where the music is perfectly synchronized with dazzling lights dancing through the palms and buildings. This event happens three times throughout each evening, providing plenty of opportunities for kids to let loose and dance to the rhythm of the night lights—parents are encouraged to join in on the fun too! The event is free and offers a unique chance for guests to handle and observe local reptiles on the "Reptile Bus." While some activities, like face painting, may cost between $5 and $10, there's plenty to enjoy without breaking the bank. Don't forget to check out the other nightly activities, music, comedy, and more at the Wharf; Wednesday features a fun scavenger hunt, while Bubble Truck Thursdays will bring out the kid in anyone. Tuesday, July 22nd- If you’ve never experienced “Sand, Songs & Cinema” on the Town Green, overlooking the beautiful white sandy shores, you’re truly missing out. The city of Gulf Shores organizes various community and guest events that provide opportunities for people to gather for free—both on and off the sand. These unique events, brought to you by local artists and community groups, create a vibrant island life experience. If you missed the last event, be sure to catch this week's featuring Jesse Taylor Perry, a Baldwin County native singer-songwriter and musician known for his captivating sound from paper to strings to stage. The performance starts at 6:30 PM, followed by the film screening of “Shark Tale” at 7:30 PM. This event welcomes attendees of all ages, so feel free to bring the whole family! Don’t hesitate to invite neighbors, old friends, and new acquaintances for an enjoyable evening. Remember to bring a blanket or chair for your comfort while watching the movie, along with any other items you may need. Wednesday, July 23rd- Nothing embodies a coastal town quite like freshly caught seafood. At local restaurants, it’s not just about grilled or fried dishes; it’s about chef-curated creations that highlight the day’s freshest catch. Many establishments feature daily and nightly specials based on what has been caught, and some, like Zeke’s Restaurant in Orange Beach, go all out with unique delicacies. Friday, July 25th- In a world that often feels fast-paced and rushed, a laid-back trip to the beach can be the perfect remedy for anyone seeking a bit of relaxation and sunshine. But did you know that parasailing offers a similar sense of tranquility? Imagine the gentle sway above the Gulf with an eight-minute ride, more akin to swinging high in the sky than a traditional watersport or adrenaline rush (though there are certainly moments of thrill). To begin your adventure, you'll walk down a dock and safely board the boat, where you'll find your seat. Once the cruise starts, the crew will prepare each participant with harnesses and provide important information. As the first group prepares to fly, you'll step back to the boarding area. The experienced mate will help hook you into your harness while the captain explains your role in the experience. Saturday, July 26th- Pirates Cove is excited to bring back its almost controversial "FUN-raiser" back for the 19th Annual High Hopes 4 Autism. Last year, this beloved event raised over $90,000 for its nonprofit organization during their multi-day summer celebration. However, it faced scrutiny over concerns that it might be disguising itself as a fundraiser while actually functioning as an "illegal lottery" or "game of chance," potentially violating Alabama state law. Within 24 hours, the issue was settled, revealing that vague or improper language in its initial communication to the Attorney General's office had caused the misunderstanding. The event was ultimately allowed to proceed in compliance with state law, and organizers have high hopes for another successful turnout for the 2025 Extra-Not-Ordinary Fundraiser. This year's event aims to raise awareness about the increasing population of children on the autism spectrum while generating funds from participants for a chance to win a brand-new Jeep Wrangler—offering hope to those who often feel hopeless. This heartwarming event spans two days and features live music, local vendors, delicious food, beverages, and great company—all for a remarkable cause. Sunday, July 27th- Glow Yoga & Boutique from Gulf Shores is coming to the City of Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center for a special early Sunday morning practice. Why this location? Glad you asked, these summer exclusive classes are called “Float and Flow.” In proper island form, these coastal salty flows are all taught on inflatable Glide Fitness Boards provided by the City of Orange Beach to the Wind and Water Center out on the waters of Wolf Bay. While focusing on enhancing your balance and strengthening your core, you might spot a local dolphin or two out for a swim or feathery fly over while soaking in the sun. These aquatic classes are from 9 AM to 10AM and fill up quickly, so be sure to sign up so as not to miss out. Tell a friend and come out to see the charm of living near the sandy shores where waterside play, work, and exercise collide, namaste.
