New candidate for Gulf Shores City Council

Gulf Shores News

A new candidate has thrown their name in the mix for the Gulf Shores City Council election this August. Blair Castro is a relative newcomer to the area and to the council. However she has been a vocal advocate of policies in the Pensacola market during her career.

In a recent press release Castro stated "I’m running because I’m tired of being ignored.” Castro added “It shouldn’t be this hard to do business in your own town or get real answers about what’s going on. Gulf Shores is growing fast—and not always in the right ways. It’s time we hit pause and put our community first."

Castro proclaimed her ownership in a firm name SHOOK PR, which is based in Pensacola. On the company's website, Castro's education section list "She also holds a Juris Doctor degree from Barry University School of Law, where she was the President of OUTlaw, the school's LGBTQIA+ student organization. She also holds a Master's of Science degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University, where she graduated with a 3.83 GPA and obtained awards in Project & Team Management, as well as Media & Publishing Distribution."

The announcement candidate's press release also list Castro as a graduate of the Leadership Pensacola Class of 2022, Castro brings a well-rounded background in education, law, media, and community advocacy.

Blair Castro is seeking the seat of Place 5, which is currently held by Steve Jones. Jones is seeking re-election to the City Council and serves in the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber.
