Gulf Shores School News

It is inspiring to see a local staff member promoted to a new level. Gulf Shores High School is welcoming a new leader as it prepares for another chapter. Dr. Tim Webb has been named the next principal, beginning his role in July 2025. He will follow current principal Mrs. Cindy Veazey, who is retiring after years of dedicated service.

Dr. Webb currently serves as principal of Gulf Shores Middle School. His work there has boosted academic achievement, encouraged innovation in the classroom, and strengthened school culture. Under his leadership, the middle school has earned praise for its collaboration, student engagement, and academic excellence.

Dr. Webb brings more than 30 years of experience in education and public service. His background includes serving as Tennessee’s Commissioner of Education. He has also held roles as a local superintendent, assistant commissioner, and principal at several school levels.

Superintendent Dr. Matt Akin praised the hire, noting Dr. Webb’s strong leadership skills and shared values with the school system. “His vision and commitment to student success align perfectly with the mission of Gulf Shores High,” Dr. Akin said. “He is the right person to lead the school into its new facility.”

Dr. Webb holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He also earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Middle Tennessee State University and a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies. He is certified in both Alabama and Tennessee as a teacher, administrator, and superintendent.

“I am honored and excited to serve as the next principal of Gulf Shores High School,” said Dr. Webb. “This school and community are incredibly special. I look forward to working with everyone to continue building something exceptional.”

Gulf Shores City Schools invites the community to welcome Dr. Webb into his new position. They also thank Mrs. Veazey for her years of leadership and service to the school and city.
