Orange Beach Makos finally meet Satsuma in 2026 season

Orange Beach, Ala. — (GSN) — Following a delay caused by hurricane weather, the Orange Beach High School Makos football team returned to Mako Stadium to host Satsuma High School. Head Coach Wade Waldrop's squad overcame the storm-related scheduling disruption to deliver a 38-14 victory over the Gators in front of their home crowd.
Anthony Hawkins delivered a stellar performance on both sides of the ball, anchoring the receiving corps and pulling in a scoring pass from quarterback Tucker Wade while logging extensive defensive snaps. Meanwhile, Verchaun Simms sparked the early momentum with a quick touchdown sweep, and a lockdown second-half defensive effort ensured the victory remained well out of reach.
The victory underscores a dramatic transformation for the program following its winless 2025 season. Improving to 7-1 on the year, Orange Beach has solidified its position in the upper echelon of Class 4A Region 1 and officially clinched its first playoff berth since 2022.
The success of the Makos comes during a banner year for local prep football, as both Orange Beach and neighboring Gulf Shores High School have displayed dominant form on the field this season.
With momentum continuing to build across South Baldwin County, Orange Beach will look to keep its winning streak alive when they travel to face their next opponent, Citronelle. The game is scheduled for October 23 at 7PM.
