Annual community cookout with First Responders

News in the gulf shores community

The Orange Beach Police and Fire Departments are gearing up for their annual Community Cookout, a beloved event that brings together residents and first responders in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

This free event is open to all residents of Orange Beach and provides a unique opportunity for community members to interact with the men and women who serve and protect their city. Attendees can look forward to a complimentary lunch featuring classic cookout fare such as hamburgers and hot dogs, all prepared and served by the city's dedicated first responders.

Set to take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the cookout will be held at Waterfront Park, located at 26425 Canal Road, next to the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach.

The annual cookout serves multiple purposes:

  • Community Engagement: It allows residents to meet and chat with local police officers and firefighters in a casual setting, fostering positive relationships between the community and its protectors.
  • Appreciation: The event is a way for the police and fire departments to show their gratitude to the community they serve.
  • Education: While enjoying their meal, attendees can learn more about the roles and responsibilities of these vital city departments.

This event is part of a broader effort by the City of Orange Beach to maintain strong ties between its residents and public servants. Mayor Tony Kennon and the City Council have consistently supported initiatives that bring the community together and promote transparency in local government.

The 2024 Annual Cook Out will include:

  • Tours of police and fire vehicles
  • Activities for children
  • Informational booths about city services

Waterfront Park, the venue for the annual cookout, is a popular spot in Orange Beach. Its location along Canal Road makes it easily accessible and provides a beautiful backdrop for this community gathering.

The Orange Beach Police and Fire Community Cookout is more than just a free meal; it's an opportunity for residents to strengthen their connection with the city's first responders. As the date approaches, residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for this family-friendly event that exemplifies the strong community spirit of Orange Beach.
