The Gulf Shores Planning Commission met on Tuesday the 14th due to the upcoming holiday. The Chairman, Pete Vakakes, opened the meeting by asking attendees to listen closely presentations from city officials because many of their questions may be addressed.

The first project, Village at Brights Creek, was presented by Jay Dickson of the city's Building Department. This new subdivision is planned for Oak Road West, commonly referred to as County Road 6. Mr. Dickson stated that the applicant for the 43.85 acre site had made a request to subdivide 7 parcels into 76 residential lots. The parcel is on the west side of the Gulf Shores Sports Complex.

The City Building Department presented several engineering studies including stormwater, common area and traffic. They also provided a list of requirements from the city for a project to obtain approvals. It was determined that the developers had met or exceeded those minimums.

When the meeting was opened to public comments some residents mentioned their concern for the roadways and stormwater management. Mr. Dickson reminded everyone that the City's management of the road stopped after the Sportsplex. He and Chairman Vakakes reiterated the stormwater situation would be better for the property after completion of the project, according to the engineering reports.

After the public's comments were closed, the Planning Commission voted in favor of the project.
