There’s a lively atmosphere at Sunliner Diners, where everyone is ‘cranked’ and on ‘cloud nine’. The 1950s definition of American diners was the ultimate hotspot, showcasing the finest hot rods, lively jams, dance-offs, and the greasiest burgers paired with crispy fries and a cool malt in your favorite flavor. Whether you're a local or just visiting, you’ve probably seen these iconic locations, which boast architecture that boldly aimed for a futuristic, space-inspired style with bright, eye-catching colors designed to draw attention. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by vintage rides out front and the option to dine inside one of the hot rods inside, complete with servers sporting sock-hop uniforms, bright lights, black-and-white checkered floors, and plenty of rock and roll to sway to. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with menu highlights like Chicken and Waffle Benedict, Bee Gees Breakfast Combo, and sweet favorites such as Banana Nut French Toast and Chocolate Chip Pancakes. Starting at 11AM, lunch offers plenty of options—from Cheese Fries to share to Candied Bacon, Steak, Chicken, and Country Fried Steak, along with classic burgers and lighter choices like salads and other sandwiches. Quench your thirst with Old Fashioned Sodas, Cream Sodas, Ice Cream Floats, and more. Feel free to dress in the theme or come as you are—just be sure to snap photos of these authentic 1950s diner experiences right here on the Alabama Gulf Coast in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, both ‘fat cities’ known for ‘cookin’ with gas’.

Saturday, July 4th-

Happy Birthday, America! If there’s one day the Alabama Gulf Coast knows how to celebrate, it’s the Fourth of July. This year is especially significant as communities across the nation kick off or complete a full week of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, making this Independence Day one for the history books. Start your celebrations at Gulf State Park’s two-day Stars and Stripes Celebration, where you'll find live music, local artists, food vendors, family-friendly activities, and plenty of spirit before the skies illuminate on Saturday after sunset. At 9 PM, the City of Gulf Shores’ Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration will launch from the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion and the eastern end of Gulf State Park Fishing & Education Pier, with some of the best public viewing available from the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion and the eastern end of Gulf Shores Public Beach. Looking for even more sparkle? Orange Beach joins the festivities with spectacular beachfront fireworks visible from Cotton Bayou Beach access, Alabama Point, CoastAL, and of course, Flora-Bama. Whether you're spreading out a beach blanket, grabbing dinner with a view, or watching from a boat beneath the stars, there’s no better place to be or a shortage of ways to see and celebrate America's birthday than along our beautiful stretch of coastline. Enjoy!

Sunday, July 5th- If Saturday and maybe for some all week was all about fireworks, sunshine, and celebrating America’s birthday. Let Sunday be about sleeping in, sipping coffee a little longer, and finding the perfect brunch. Head over to Cobalt restaurant, where Sunday brunch is served from 11 to 2 PM overlooking the water. Dive into beloved favorites like shrimp and grits, seafood omelets packed with blue crab and shrimp, or the crab and scallop cake Benedict. Feeling more classic? No worries — French toast, traditional Benedict, and hearty country-style breakfasts are all waiting, alongside mimosas, Bloody Marys, and of course, salty emerald water views that somehow make Monday seem a little less intimidating. It’s the perfect way to conclude an unforgettable Fourth of July week on the Alabama Gulf Coast.
