The course material is provided by the National Association of Safe Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and includes Alabama-specific content. The class will start at 8:00 AM and end around 3:00-3:30 PM. A quiz will be given at the end, and participants will receive a certificate for Alabama boat operators’ certification.

Topics covered include boat familiarization, trip planning, safe boat operations, legal requirements for boat operation, boating emergencies, and enjoying water sports. Additional material will cover local law enforcement, area waterways, the Intracoastal Waterway, and boating knots.

Baring any unforeseen circumstances, the Orange Beach Marine Police will give a brief presentation on area waterways and safe boating.

Lunch will be pizza and is included in the course fee. Minors attending must be accompanied by an adult. The cost for the class is $40, with a discount for additional family members, first responders, and military personnel.
