Families, friends, and local golfers are getting ready to dress in red and green for the 2nd Annual Santa Scramble at the Orange Beach Golf Center. The holiday-themed tournament turns a morning of golf into a way to give back. Organizers say the event blends fun, friendly competition, and community spirit. Players of many ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up.

The scramble is scheduled for Saturday, December 13th, at the Orange Beach Golf Center. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. tee-off for the 18-hole scramble. The second annual event again limits the field to about two dozen teams, keeping the focus on community and charity rather than high-pressure play.

The Santa Scramble is designed as a fundraiser for the Orange Beach High School boys and girls golf teams. All proceeds from team registrations support the student golfers, helping cover costs such as equipment, uniforms, and travel to matches. The event also encourages participants to bring toys that will be donated to the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center, adding another layer of giving.

On the course, golfers will play an 18-hole scramble, a format that keeps the pace moving and makes the round more relaxed. Each team hits from the best shot on every stroke, which allows experienced players and beginners to contribute. 

To add to the holiday atmosphere, organizers promise hot cocoa and breakfast treats in the morning. Those snacks will be served by members of the Orange Beach High School golf teams as they cheer on the players. 

City recreation officials and the Orange Beach Golf Center first introduced the Santa Scramble last year as a way to support student athletes while bringing neighbors together. The tournament is described it as a day “full of golf, giving, and holiday cheer,” and urge people to “tee off for a cause”. 

Support for the Orange Beach golf teams is especially important as they continue to grow. Tournament funds help with range time, tournament entry fees, and other expenses that are not fully covered by school budgets. Parents and coaches hope that events like the Santa Scramble will keep more students involved in the sport and introduce younger children to golf.

Organizers urge anyone interested not to wait. With limited team spots and increasing attention from local businesses, the field is expected to fill quickly. As the date approaches, volunteers and staff at the course are preparing scorecards, decorations, and prize packages.
