The City of Orange Beach Moves Forward With New $11 Million Civic Center

New center is estimated to have a $11 Million price tag

Orange Beach Civic Center

More than a decade ago the City of Orange Beach bought the Event Center located at The Wharf. The Center hosts over 100 events annually. Now the city seeks to sell the event center to The Wharf and build a new community civic center on Canal Road, across from the public library.


The City of Orange Beach has approved a contract with Sawgrass Consulting to provide professional for boundary and other topographic services on the planned site. The planned civic center's location is 15 acres on the south side of Canal Road in Orange Beach will be built to accommodate seating for 500 to 600.

City Administrator, Ford Handley, stated “We hope to design a building that can accommodate around 500 to 600 people seated,” and added “This is to support more of our local groups.”


The City of Orange Beach has completed several new projects in the past year in order to accommodate the area's growth.

  • Canal Road Improvements
