Infirmary Health has 5 operations in the Gulf Shores area

Many South Baldwin residents have United Healthcare Insurance and for the past few days they have been unable to use Infirmary Health services. The two companies have reached and agreement so that the insured may once again visit those Infirmary Health offices in the area.

Infirmary Health has three offices between Foley and Gulf Shores. They have over 30 associated outlets in Baldwin County.

Now the patients with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) insurance once again have in-network coverage with Infirmary Health.

Hannah Peterson, with Infirmary Health, confirmed late Friday the two entities had signed a new agreement. The long-term commercial insurance contract is effective immediately.

The insurance company will also retroactively cover visits and services that were during the suspension period starting June 4. The two companies could not come to an agreement due to rising costs due to inflation according to Erica Thomas of 1819 News.

“Infirmary Health’s new agreement with UHC will benefit our patients across the region as well as our physicians and other providers,” said Mark Nix, president and CEO of Infirmary Health. “As a result of these negotiations, we will be able to continue to provide the care our patients need at the level they expect while remaining in network.”

Infirmary Health is the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the state. It operates four hospitals (Mobile Infirmary, Thomas Hospital, North Baldwin Infirmary, and Infirmary Long-Term Acute Care Hospital), freestanding emergency departments, imaging centers, and over 60 clinics in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
