The Alabama Restaurant & Hospitality Association (ARHA), in partnership with Old Forester and United-Johnson Brothers of America, has officially launched its annual "Bartender of the Year" competition, putting the skills of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach bartenders front and center.

The competition is a high-stakes challenge designed to highlight the creativity and craftsmanship found in the state’s hospitality industry. Bartenders are tasked with submitting an original cocktail that not only showcases their mixology skills but also draws inspiration from the distinct flavors of Alabama or the specific city where they are competing. Each entry must feature an expression from the Old Forester Whiskey Row lineup.

For bartenders in the Gulf Shores area, the regional competition is set to take place on October 19 at Zeke’s Restaurant.

"It’s an incredible opportunity for our local mixologists to get the recognition they deserve," said a spokesperson for the association. "Whether it’s a craft cocktail specialist or a veteran behind the bar, this is their chance to show the state what Gulf Shores brings to the table."

The stakes go beyond local bragging rights. Regional winners will advance to the state competition held on November 3 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa. There, they will vie for the title of Alabama’s "Bartender of the Year," along with a $1,500 grand prize and a commemorative trophy.
