Many government grant programs are at a national level where it is difficult to monitor and view the ROI (Return on Investment). The City of Gulf Shores announced the launch of its Nonprofit  Grants Program, aimed at supporting vital nonprofit organizations that directly benefit the  residents of Gulf Shores. In a press release the city stated "This initiative reflects the City’s commitment to addressing community  needs and ensuring that public resources create a meaningful impact locally."

“The Nonprofit Grants Program is a tangible demonstration of the City’s commitment to  supporting organizations that truly impact Gulf Shores residents,” said Mayor Robert Craft. “We  are dedicated to ensuring that those providing meaningful services in our community have the  resources and support necessary to continue their important work.”

The Nonprofit Grants Program will award grants twice annually, with Spring and Fall cycles.  The current Fall cycle is now open for applications, and submissions will be accepted through  August 15. Eligible nonprofits may receive up to $2,000 per cycle, with a maximum of $4,000  per calendar year. All applicants must provide direct services to Gulf Shores residents, though  organizations do not need to be physically located within the city.

Grant funds can be used for project-based needs, events, or essential resources. However, they  cannot be allocated for salaries, debt service, or political lobbying. Applications will be reviewed  by the City’s Grant Review Committee, prioritizing organizations that demonstrate significant  local impact and efficiency.
