Village at Bright’s Creek off of County Road 6 is on agenda

Developers seeking to extend the preliminary subdivision plat for the Village at Bright’s Creek are facing a denial in front of the Gulf Shores Planning Commission. The project has been in front of the commission as far back as 2023. The parcel is at Oak Road West and Sanderson Lane. Plans are to place 76 single-family homes on the 43.85-acre parcel. After failing several Engineering Department inspections at the site and changes in subdivision regulations, staff will recommend denying the extension.
The commission will meet Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at Gulf Shores City Hall.
During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:
- A request to annex a vacant lot at 4199 County Road 6 on the Bon Secour River. The applicants seek a pre-zoning of the property to neighborhood business and staff will recommend approval with conditions.
- Recommending no changes to the Plash Island/Bon Secour River overlay district to avoid increasing the number of dwelling units in the area.
- A request for preliminary subdivision plat approval to subdivide 1.6 acres into five lots on Miller Memorial Road. Staff will recommend approval with conditions.
