"Shamrockin’" fun in the heart of Foley!

Foley, Ala. — (GSN) — Shamrockin in downtown Foley is set to bring a burst of Irish-themed fun to the city’s historic core this March. Organizers say the event will offer a mix of shopping, dining, and community spirit for residents and visitors. Families, friends, and neighbors are invited to stroll through the downtown streets and enjoy special deals. The celebration is part of an ongoing effort to keep Foley’s downtown lively and welcoming.

The
Shamrockin Downtown Foley event is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It coincides with the city’s regular Third Thursday celebration, which highlights local businesses. Visitors are encouraged to replace their usual evening routines with a night out downtown. Organizers hope the timing provides a midweek boost for both shoppers and shop owners.

The evening begins at Southern Shores Eats & Drinks at 5 p.m., where
Foley Main Street will announce the winners of the Downtown Leprechaun Hunt. After the announcement, guests can explore the rest of downtown. As an old Irish proverb says, “A light heart lives longest,” reminding everyone that optimism can boost health. Event organizers are using that message to encourage people to be kind-hearted and join the celebration.

Local shops and restaurants are planning several treats and discounts for visitors. Dorothy June Booksellers will offer a 10% discount on book purchases, while Black Cat Vegan Bakery will provide a free cookie with each purchase. Feast & Co. and South Baldwin Social will serve sample appetizers and refreshments to help keep guests energized as they explore. Yawdies will feature a special deal on a Jamaican Delight for those craving a taste of the islands.

Art lovers will find plenty to enjoy as well. Fish River Furnishings & Art Gallery and the Foley Art Center frequently host local artist receptions during Third Thursday events. These gatherings often include wine and door prizes for guests. Shoppers can also discover a balloon-popping surprise discount at Lillian’s Closet. Additionally, Scuttlebutt Pub and Doc Hollidays will offer drink specials, and As Seasons Change Down South will showcase floral deals.

Organizers say there will be a “pot of gold” waiting at each participating business, with details available through an online link shared by Foley Main Street. The variety of offers is designed to encourage guests to visit multiple locations. Many of the deals showcase the character and creativity of Foley’s small businesses. Together, they aim to create a memorable evening that encourages people to return to downtown.

Beyond the fun, community leaders emphasize that Shamrockin Downtown Foley plays a vital role in supporting the local economy. They point out that every purchase helps independent shops and family-owned restaurants stay strong. By choosing to shop and dine locally, residents help keep the downtown vibrant and walkable. Organizers say each visit and social media post fuels the district’s ongoing revival.

As the event nears, Foley Main Street encourages people to wear their favorite green outfits and bring friends. They aim to highlight the city’s warmth and hospitality alongside its Irish flair in the evening. “Shamrockin Downtown Foley” is promoted as more than just a themed night out; it’s also an opportunity for the community to invest in the future of their hometown.
