This is National Public Works Week, honoring those who serve the city

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — Have you ever thought about the City of Gulf Shores staff members who change out a damaged road sign, repair a water line, fix a pothole or maintain the floors in public buildings? It takes a small army to maintain the City of Gulf Shores so that residents can enjoy it's offerings.
Mayor Robert Craft is honoring those members who serve Gulf Shores during National Public Works Week. The NPWW is an annual observance dedicated to celebrating the professionals who plan, build, manage, and maintain the vital infrastructure that keeps a community functioning, safe, and connected.
Often referred to as the "unsung heroes" of society, public works professionals include the civil engineers, maintenance workers, city planners, traffic technicians, and sanitation workers who operate in the background of everyday life.
As part of National Public Works Week (May 17-23), Mayor Craft encourages everyone to join us him in thanking the hardworking crews who keep our city running smoothly every day. He Stated "From maintaining streets and drainage systems to managing our parks, facilities, sanitation services, and so much more, these dedicated professionals truly are the backbone of our daily operations."
